Madchild of Vancouver based Swollen Members, was on a kamikaze run with the drug oxycontin (a synthetic substance similar to heroin) that had pushed him to the brink of oblivion. His left arm was completely numb, his lips had turned purple, and he was standing on death's' doorstep as h...is body finally gave up from four and a half straight years of opiate abuse. Madchild's family panicked and immediately rushed him to emergency room in a race against the clock. After successfully battling for his life that night, Madchild had finally hit rock bottom. His drug addiction had spiraled out of control and destroyed everything the successful emcee had worked so hard to build with his platinum selling hip-hop group Swollen Members. The fancy cars, lavish houses and rock star luxuries were all gone, as his addiction had consumed over 3 million dollars worth of assets and finances in just over four years. Throughout the next year as he struggled to take back his life from prescription pills, Madchild discovered his personal sanctuary in the arms of his music. Clean from drugs for the first time in his adult life, Madchild removed himself from temptation by walking away from his previous social life and bunkering down in his home studio secluded from the outside world. For the next 10 months, Madchild feverishly wrote and recorded his first ever solo album "Dope Sick". "Dope Sick" was inspired by Madchild's battle with addiction and offers fans an open look at the cold realities of drug abuse. The album shows Madchild back on the top of his game spitting venom like a caged beast on everything from his addiction and his recent ban from the United States, to the current state of hip-hop. Not only is "Dope Sick" a story of triumph over adversity, but it has allowed Madchild to be reborn creatively. Unshackled from the chains of his past indiscretions, Madchild has confronted his darkest demons and used them as a source of inspiration to create one of the most insanely captivating hip-hop releases of 2012. Madchild continues to push on and will be touring through the NW this September and in will be in Portland Oregon Sept.20th 2016

Hailing from Oakland, California, Del and his crew, the Hieroglyphics came out as a markedly non-gangster response to a burgeoning West Coast scene. After being put on at the tender age of 17 by his cousin Ice Cube, Del released two records on Elektra, I Wish My Brother George Was Here (1991) and No Need For Alarm (1993). Despite record sales in the hundreds of thousands, he recorded a third album, Future Development, which was never commercially released. Del parted with Elektra and started work on the Hieroglyphics..family album, 3rd Eye Vision (Hiero Imperium, 1998). Hiero went on the road and toured incessantly in support of the album for much of 1998. Del also spen...t a good portion of his time drawing, practicing Japanese, and playing mass amounts of video games. Finally ready to unleash a new record on the world, Del comes with BOTH SIDES OF THE BRAIN. Seventeen tracks of pure Del. He says of his work on this album: .."I've had complete control". At times, Del has felt restrained by the formulas in hip hop and the expectations fans place upon emcees who have had hits. I wish that I had the same freedom that someone like Bjork has when she puts out an album..Apart from collaborations with PrincePaul, El-P (Company Flow), and help from a few of his Hiero cohorts (A-plus, Casual, Domino) Del handled the majority of production on this album. By staying true to himself, Del has earned legions of adoring fans. He may have said it best in his classic,Mistadobalina when he declared all in the mind and the heart.

Abstract Rude is a West Coast veteran of independent and underground hip hop. He like many other rap artists in the LA scene got his start at the Goodlife Cafe and starred in the Ava Duvernay directed docu-film, THIS IS THE LIFE. Over time, his distinct voice and vast catalog has kept him working in the music business since the mid 90s releasing groundbreaking albums such as Project Blowed, South... Central Thynk Taynk, Mood Pieces, P.a.i.n.t & Haiku De Tat. As frontman of his original group Abstract Tribe Unique (ATU) and collaborator with Freestyle Fellowship members Aceyalone & Myka 9, Abstract Rude has endeared himself to fans worldwide through consistent touring. Ab Rude's music has been featured in motion picture scores such as The Wood, tv and movie soundtracks such as Dark Angel, videogames like 2KSports and Scarface, on albums Mixed Drink 1&2 with hip-hop legends The Beastie Boys (to whose Grand Royal Records label he was once signed) and on award nominated albums such as the Look At All The Love We Found...A Tribute To Sublime cd/dvd. Abstract Rude's last lp effort ('09) was his 1st on Rhymesayers Ent. entitled Rejuvenation, produced entirely by Seattle beatsmith Vitamin D. Ab did extensive sold out tours with Atmosphere & Brother Ali during that run, and released interim discs (Coat of Gold Paint, Eyes Wide Shutish, Steel Making Trax, Dear Abbey the lost letters mixtape) on his own Keep The Feel Ent. imprint within the 2 years after the Rhymesayers lp.
